When on a cruise ship from Alaska to Vancouver/ Seattle (or the other way, you will stop at Skagway – there are a lot of tours you can take any place you stop while cruising but at that place one of the main attractions is taking the train to whitepass at Yukon territory – its costs about 150usd or so. we decided to do this trip on our own and it was amazing – we rented a car at the local Avis (90usd a day) and drove 70 miles to Emerald lake (right next to the railroad anyway) – on the way we saw many bears just walking on the road, we stopped at many view points which were unreal – just rugged as it can be, we had a stop also at carcross desert which is the smallest desert in the world, at Yukon suspension bridge and at emerald lake we turn back and drove the 70 miles back – it was a great 6 hours trip.

Cedar Breaks is a really small park not too far away from Zion Np and Bryce canton, which make it easy to also visit this place when you are already visiting the other 2.

I was there for only a few hours, it kinda reminded me of Bryce canyon (which i love) but you can just make a small detour and get there, stop at the 3 view points (there are also 3 hiking trails so you can hike if you have some more time) which are just amazing and drive back to where you came from – worth the extra drive.

While in Norway, you have to try out one of the glacier hiking tours, it is a great experience and it is not as easy as it seems. I was visiting the Jostedalen national park in the center of the Sognefjord region and joined a short hike at Nigardsbreen. you walk with a small group, and with a guide, where everyone are tied to each other, you will arrive to the glacier and get the glacier hiking gear and a few pointers on how to walk on the glacier.

The walk (shortest one) is 2 hours and it is amazing, you will go inside caves, and on top f the glacier – look behind you every once in a while, there is an amazing view there as well.

In general im not a big fan of the grand canyon, i don’t know why but maybe i heard so much about it that by the time i got there it wasn’t that amazing in my eyes. The one thing i do advise you should do as long as you are there is get up real early and go to watch the sunrise – it is really beautiful, make sure to be there like 20-30 minutes before, by the time you will get there you will already see tons of Japanese tourists with their bombastic cameras, so make sure to be there early enough to find a spot.

In general, Flam (or Flaam, or Flåm) is a small place in Norway which i visited 2 years ago, this was one of the places i really looking forward to visit (mainly since they have such great reputation, and their site is really great, but in general, yes, it is a great place, lovely fjord and some really nice hikes and amazing views – defiantly worth the trip.

The only thing i would advise you to avoid, is the train trip, it is a really expensive trip, and the views you see while riding the trains are not really worth the price – you see all these views and more from the village itself. Yes, you will see a nice waterfall, but you will get to see thousands of these while visiting Norway. Other than that, the train (due to the fact its an historical train) is so slow so other than the money you will be spending 2 hours of precious Norway travel time.
